Story

Title: "Darjeeling Ke Darling"

Ravi stood at the window of his bedroom, his eyes fixed on the distant Mumbai skyline, tinged with hues of the early dawn. His backpack sat on the bed, filled with winter gear, snacks, and a diary. The anticipation of the trip to Darjeeling with his friends filled his heart with excitement. After months of planning, the day had finally arrived.

Darjeeling, with its sprawling tea gardens, mist-laden hills, and crisp, cold air, promised adventure and memories that would last a lifetime. Ravi could almost feel the biting wind on his face. His friend Shikha had been the most enthusiastic about the trip, her eyes lighting up whenever they talked about it. Ravi considered her one of his closest friends, unaware of the deeper feelings she harbored for him.

"Ravi, the taxi’s here!" his mother called.

"Coming, Mom!" he replied, grabbing his bag.

The Arrival in Darjeeling

The drive up the winding roads to Darjeeling was both breathtaking and nerve-wracking. Tall pines lined the path, and the chill grew sharper with every twist and turn. When they finally arrived at the campsite, Ravi's heart soared. The view was magical – snow-capped peaks loomed in the distance, and the air smelled of pine and adventure.

Shikha stood beside him, her cheeks flushed from the cold. "This is amazing, isn’t it, Ravi?"

"Yeah, it really is," he said, taking a deep breath. He couldn’t wait to explore.

The group set up their tents under the guidance of their camp instructor. As night fell, a bonfire crackled to life, the flames casting warm, flickering shadows. Stories and laughter filled the air. Shikha sat beside Ravi, sneaking glances at him, hoping he’d notice the affection in her eyes. But his attention was elsewhere, lost in the beauty of the night sky.

The Fateful Skiing Trip

The next morning, the group decided to try ice skiing. The slopes near their camp were covered in pristine snow, glistening under the sunlight. Ravi strapped on his skis, a grin on his face. "This is going to be awesome!"

Shikha hesitated. "Be careful, Ravi."

"Relax, I’ve got this," he laughed, gliding down the slope with ease. The wind whooshed past him, his heart pounding with exhilaration.

Suddenly, the ground beneath him shuddered. A low rumble echoed through the valley. Ravi’s eyes widened in horror as he saw a wall of snow cascading down the mountain. An avalanche.

Panic gripped him. He tried to turn, to escape, but the snow was too fast. Before he knew it, he was engulfed in white, his body tumbling helplessly. The world turned cold and dark.

The Rescue

Ravi woke to the sensation of warmth on his face. He blinked, his vision blurred. A pair of concerned eyes met his – soft brown eyes framed by dark hair. He was lying in the snow, wrapped in a thick shawl. A girl knelt beside him, her cheeks flushed from exertion.

"You’re awake," she said softly.

"Wha—what happened?" he croaked.

"You were caught in the avalanche," she explained. "I saw you from the ridge and dug you out."

"You saved me," he murmured, his heart swelling with gratitude.

She smiled. "I’m Anvita."

"Ravi," he said, managing a weak smile.

Something about Anvita’s calm, confident demeanor drew him in. Her presence was like a steady flame, warm and comforting amidst the cold wilderness. He couldn’t take his eyes off her.

A New Bond

Anvita helped Ravi back to the campsite, supporting him as they walked. Shikha’s eyes widened with relief and confusion when she saw them approach. Her heart ached at the sight of Ravi leaning on Anvita, a new connection silently forming between them.

As the days passed, Ravi and Anvita grew closer. They explored the hills together, shared stories by the fire, and laughed over shared jokes. Anvita’s laughter was like music to Ravi’s ears, and he realized he was falling for her.

Shikha watched from a distance, her heart heavy. She had always dreamed that one day, Ravi would see her as more than just a friend. But with Anvita in the picture, that dream was slipping away.

Shibu’s Anger

Word of Ravi and Anvita’s growing closeness reached Anvita’s childhood friend, Shibu. Protective and hot-headed, Shibu confronted Ravi one evening.

"Stay away from Anvita," Shibu growled, his fists clenched.

"I’m not doing anything wrong," Ravi replied calmly.

"She’s like family to me. I won’t let some outsider hurt her!" Shibu shouted, shoving Ravi backward.

Before the argument escalated, Shikha appeared, stepping between them. "Stop it!" she shouted. "This isn’t the way to solve things."

She turned to Shibu. "Ravi isn’t here to hurt anyone. He cares for Anvita."

Shibu’s anger faltered. He glanced at Anvita, who had arrived just in time to hear Shikha’s words.

Anvita stepped forward, her voice firm. "Shibu, I know you care about me, but I can make my own choices."

Shibu sighed, his shoulders slumping. "I’m sorry," he muttered, walking away.

Ravi looked at Shikha, his eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Shikha."

She smiled sadly. "Go to her, Ravi. She’s waiting for you."

Letting Go

Shikha watched as Ravi walked toward Anvita, their eyes meeting with a warmth that spoke of promises and new beginnings. A tear rolled down her cheek, but she wiped it away, a small smile on her lips. Sometimes, love meant letting go.

She turned and walked back to the camp, ready to forge a new path for herself.

Happily Ever After

Ravi and Anvita stood together, the snowy peaks stretching behind them. Hand in hand, they looked out over the hills, their hearts full of hope.

"I’m glad we met," Ravi whispered.

"So am I," Anvita replied, her eyes shining.

And in the serene beauty of Darjeeling, amidst the mountains and the mist, their story truly began.
